CVS customers stay on top of the news with TiVo.
Over the past several years, broadcast journalism has adopted a 24 hour news cycle.
The average cable subscriber in Washington has access to more than a dozen news outlets. Major world events are covered in real time as they occur. Items of special interest to Washington businesses and government agencies are covered in depth by local channels. And of course, C-SPAN provides its unblinking look into House and Senate affairs 24/7 as well.
Business and Government leaders need to know what is being said about their organizations.
A simple VHS machine flashing 12:00 is no longer an adequate technology for answering the Monday morning question: "What did they say about us on 60 Minutes last night"?
CVS is employing technologies from TiVo and AMX to make the retrieval and archiving of important news coverage easy for our clients.
In our latest system, 10 TiVo Series 2 Personal Video Recorders are controlled by a touch screen interface supplied by AMX. Many of the control functions present on the standard TiVo hand held remote control are embedded in this touch screen display. As each TiVo is selected, its audio and video are routed to a display monitor. Now, this is where things get interesting. The operator merely puts the TiVo in "pause" at the beginning of the item of interest. Then, by making other simple selections on the touch screen, the system will pre-roll a broadcast quality VTR and perform an assemble edit. Making up a day-reel from numerous news stories has never been easier!
