Our association with the Federal Judicial Center began in 1987 as a provider of maintenance services for the video production facility. At that time, the Center was housed in the
historic Dolley Madison House located near the White House. Because Ms. Madison did not foresee a requirement for a television studio in her home, most of the typical physical plant requirements such as HVAC,
acoustics, adequate control room sizes…even acceptable ceiling height…were absent.
The construction of the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building in 1991 afforded the Center the opportunity to relocate to a facility purpose-built for their use. Contract Video
Specialists consulted with the architect and general contractor. We assisted in the development of the space plan, HVAC, electrical, lighting, and acoustics. In addition, we developed the technical plan for a
significant upgrade to be included with the re-location. This upgrade included configuring a complete studio, as well as integrating a routing switcher, matrix intercom, D-2 switcher, D-2 VTRs, multiple edit rooms,
and an audio production room with narration booth.
Most recently, we assisted the Center staff with the installation of a multi-channel automation system and replaced the Center's analog control room production switcher with a digital
product.
