CVS first collaborated with the Evangel Cathedral when it was known as Evangel Church back in 1985. Our original task was to develop a sound engineering base for their existing
equipment.
Evangel Temple was very progressive in their use of video during the mid 80s. They had made a sensible investment in equipment more typical of a small production company...Ikegami HL79 cameras (one on triax), time code based 3/4 inch video recording and editing, Chyron Scribe, and other items not typically found in a church video department. Since those early days, CVS has performed general maintenance to the equipment, and supervised the relocation of their original facility from Rhode Island Avenue in Washington, D.C. to their present location on Central Avenue in Prince George's County. CVS has been there throughout their growth from Evangel Temple to Evangel Church, to the current Evangel Cathedral.
Over the past two years, CVS has been on the team with Evangel Cathedral, their architect, and their general contractor as we developed the video facility for their recently
dedicated Cathedral. After working with the Television Ministry to determine their requirements, CVS designed the complete video facility and specified all of the components. Evangel Church chose to
contract CVS to supply a turn-key solution to their video requirements.
In order to "future proof" the facility to the greatest extent possible, the system is
comprised of a fully digital production switcher. The cameras output SDI directly, as does the graphics equipment. Some component analog equipment remains, and is used
after conversion to SDI. However, no composite video signals are employed anywhere in the facility.
The Evangel Cathedral is a magnificent building with seating for 2500. The stage is fitted out to the same professional level as any other of the best performance venues in
Washington. Contract Video Specialists is pleased to have been chosen to design and integrate a video system with quality comparable to the rest of the facility.
